Martin Luther's Early Life

Martin Luther was born on the 10th of November 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. Luther received a primary and secondary education. In 1501 Luther went to the University of Erfurt at only 17 years of age. In 1502 he recieved a bachelors degree then in 1505 a master's degree he then went on to study law. Later on in that same year Luther shocked everyone as he left his studies and joined the Augustian monastery in Erfurt.In 1506 Luther became a monk At the age of 23 Martin Luther became a priest in 1512 he became a professor of Theology at the University of Wittenberg, Germany.

The Reformation

While Martin Luther was studying the New Testament he came to believe that Christians are saved by God's grace. Martin Luther began to turn against some of the major beliefs of the Catholic Church. On October 31st 1517 Luther published his Ninety-Five theses (idea's as an argument) which many say he nailed to a church door. Luther became a very controversial figure doing this, due to this Luther was excommincated by the Pope and kept in hiding at Wartburg Castle by his Prince. In March 1521 Luther returned to the city and did sermons to return his peace back. Luther translated the bible into German so that everyone could read it.In 1525 Martin Luther married a former nun Katharina von Bora.

Luther's Death

Sadly Martin Luther died on February the 18th 1546 in Eislebon after resovling a conflict in the winter of 1545 in Mansfield.
