Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most famous artists in the time of the Renaissance. Leonardo is well known for his two most famous paintings, the portrait of Mona Lisa (1503-1506) which is Leonardo favourite and may become on of the worlds most celebrated portrait in a life time. Every body remains the Mona Lisa because of her smile. He wasn’t just a painter he was also a sculptor, architect, engineer and scientist

Facts about Leonardo di Vinci
· Leonardo full birth name was Leonardo di ser Piero sa Vinci meaning 'Leonardo, son of (Mes) ser Piero from Vinci'.
· Leonardo was born in April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy in Florence.
· He died on May the 2, 1519 at the age of 67.
· The first known and dated work of Leonardo di Vici is a pen link drawing of a valley shaped by the river Arno. This drawing dated 5th of August 1473 reflects the ingenious mind of Leonardo.

Mona Lisa
The Mona Lisa is the most famous work of Leonardo da Vinci. He started to work on the painting in 1503. At this time Mona Lisa was twenty four years old. He worked on the portrait for four years. It was believed that Leonardo did not sell the portrait straight away, either because he had not finished the piece or was to in love with it. But in 1516 he final sold it to King Francis 1. The characteristics of the portrait consist of the detailed background which disappears in the misty atmosphere. The main feature of the painting is the perfect smile of Mona Lisa.
The Last Supper
The Last Supper is a 15th century painting which was created by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting represents the scene of The Last Supper from the final day of Jesus as depicted in the Bible. The painting is one of the most well known and valued in the world. The painting has never been privately owned because it cannot easily be moved.
